About Sri Yogi
The birth, early life, and path to becoming an Avadhoota of His Holiness Sri Sri Sri Yogishwara Swami.
Birth and Spiritual Heritage
Sri Yogi was born on August 18, 1975, in Thiruvananthapuram, Kerala, a sacred region associated with Sree Padmanabhaswamy. This area is rich in spiritual significance, with a long-standing tradition established by Sri Atmarama Swami in 596 AD, which continues to shape the temples and spiritual centers today. Sri Yogi's family plays an essential role in this lineage, as many of his ancestors, including sadhus and rishis, have attained Samadhi at esteemed temples, thereby preserving the spiritual legacy into the present.
Early Life and Struggles
Sri Yogi spent his formative years in various family residences. His first home was with his great-grandmother at Moopanvilakam, Murukkumpuzha. He later moved to his grandfather's house in Thopil, Murukkumpuzha, where he lived until the age of three. When he turned four, the family established their own home in Murukkumpuzha.
At the age of seven, Sri Yogi was diagnosed with epilepsy, which significantly impacted his physical and mental well-being. He received treatment at the Government Medical College in Thiruvananthapuram. However, by the time he reached nine, his condition had deteriorated, and he faced a near collapse.
Spiritual Transformation
During his challenging health journey, Sri Yogi encountered two transformative sadhus who profoundly changed the trajectory of his life. With the steadfast support of his mother, grandmother, and great-grandmother, he embarked on a quest for spirituality. At the tender age of ten, Sri Yogi began his search for the Divine Goddess Kali, which ultimately led him to his Guru, Srimath Paramahamsa Ananda Sri Sri Kalidasa Swami, in Pillathadam, Maruthwamalai, Kanyakumari, Tamil Nadu.
Under his Guru's guidance, Sri Yogi not only conquered his medical challenges but also attained spiritual enlightenment. By the age of fifteen, he developed divine vision, allowing him to foresee events concerning his family's future. In pursuit of deeper wisdom, he spent six months and seven and a half days in Samadhi under the mentorship of the renowned Siddha, Kalidasa Swami. Kalidasa Swami advised him to fulfill his worldly responsibilities before fully embracing the spiritual path, prompting Sri Yogi to work abroad while nurturing his spiritual growth.
